The Canadian Golf Academy is proud to have the services of one of Canada’s top Club Professionals, John Irwin, as our Head Teaching Professional. John has worked as a Head Professional at the following clubs: Lingan Golf Club, Sydney, NS (1970-1975) St. Catharines Golf & Country Club, St.Catharines,ON (1976-1989) Niakwa Country Club, Winnipeg, MB (1990-1999) Summerside Golf & Country Club, Summerside, PE (2006-2008) As a teacher John has given many clinics and private lessons over the years. As a player John played on the European Senior Tour from 2000-2005 with a career best 2nd place finish in the 2002 British Senior Open. John has also played on the Asian Senior Tour with a career best second place finish at the 2003 Asian Senior Masters. John won the Super Senior Division at the Canadian PGA Seniors’ Championship in 2006 and 2009 while finishing second in 2007 and 2008. John holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from UPEI. He has also attended many golf teaching seminars over the years given by the PGA of America and the Canadian PGA. John has assembled a team of well qualified instructors that have a passion for the game and enjoy their role in helping every age and level of golfer achieve their golfing goals and have fun doing it. Our coaching and instruction is based on a method that effectively develops and reinforces proper fundamentals while integrating the individuality of each player’s body and swing.

An Islander by birth, Blair played all sports as a kid and took up golf in his 20’s. Blair fell in love with this wonderful game and quickly made it his passion. After turning Professional at the age of 30, Blair played some tournament golf and then settled into a career as a teacher. Blair has been with the Canadian Golf Academy since its inception in 1999. Blair still competes locally in tournaments around Atlantic Canada.
